This was the first year for the Mountain Maple Run/Walk . The runs and walks were held on the rugged ski and hiking trails around the township park. It was a pleasant and challenging departure from the usual road race.

This new event is following in the footsteps of the long standing Corn Fest run/walk in August and the Maple Syrup Stampede ski races in February. That is, the event was very well organized, started on time, there were lots of friendly and helpful volunteers and there were many awards for the participants. Many of the prizes were unique hand crafted items that I am sure the recipients will treasure for many years.

Events on the Island are clearly second to none. The support of local merchants and volunteers is outstanding. You owe to yourself to attend this event next year along with the Corn Fest Run/Walk and Maple Syrup Stampede ski races.
